We were fortunate and found a deal through Travelzoo that helped us discover this hotel. The seafood buffet with crab legs was also worth the cost. One restaurant had an excellent prime rib for $9. Without an alternative explanation, we assume it was related to smoking in the casino that worked its way into the hotel rooms. We stayed at other locations in Vegas immediately preceding and after staying at the Palms without a similar problem. Each morning both my wife and I woke up with red and watery eyes. Our biggest issue, and the reason we are unlikely to return, was presumably related to the ventilation system. The shower lacked a door which presented a problem only in terms of heat retention during a shower. The room was reasonably sized and appointed albeit a minimalist approach (e.g., few storage areas).
The presence of the clubs and controlled entry bars is another indicator. This is one indicator the hotel caters to a young (under 30) crowd. In addition to a hefty resort fee, there is a hold of $50 per night on your credit card in case you damage the room. The room was not available by the check in posted time. My wife and I stayed at the Palms for four nights.
